Vocabulary for the Unsaid
I reach for a synonym and it doesn’t fit. I reach for another and it fits too well, like a costume.
Some feelings don’t want a word. They want time. They want a conversation that doesn’t rush them into definition.
I used to think the problem was my vocabulary. Now I wonder if the problem is that I keep asking language to carry what I won’t carry myself.
Saying it “correctly” is not the same as saying it honestly.
Maybe the closest word is the one I’m avoiding because it makes the situation real.
